On June 22, 2021, Mizuwali, owner of Piper Doll, revealed the newest doll in his Piper S.A.F. (Silicone Action Figure) series: the 100cm Mai. Mai is the first Piper Doll designed initially as a SAF doll without a larger, full-sized version. Every other SAF doll was scaled down from a previous silicone model (except Eirian which only had a full-sized TPE version). Mizuwali refered to this doll as “舞,” which translates to “dance.” Like usual, Mai was met with mostly positive feedback on Mizuwali’s twitter account.

According to Mizuwali, Mai was subconsciously inspired by the Doll House 168 Evo Cat with “the demeanor of a sister and feeling of an AV actress.” He didn’t realize how similar she looked to Cat until he began taking her photographs. She has a lengthened waist, toned abs, and was designed to look sporty and fit. Mizuwali also commented that in the “crab pose” photos, her butt is in the air (not touching the floor), which supposedly only Piper SAF dolls can achieve. Like all SAF dolls, she has hardened hands and feet by default which helps support her in that position.
In my opinion, Mai looks like many of Mizuwali’s previous dolls combined together. Her face looks like a mix of Miyuki, Risako, Eirian, Phoebe, and Akira, and her body resembles Jessica. It’s unknown whether Mizuwali will make a larger version of this doll, but it’s always a possibility. Fans of busty and sporty Japanese women in a scaled-down doll form will love this new doll.
