Small Doll Apocalypse: China’s Rapid Factory Crackdowns

After years of heated debate in the doll community, the world is witnessing what some might call “The Small Dollpocalyse.” This week, several sex doll brands abruptly – and all-at-once – announced the discontinuation of many models, particularly those under 140cm tall. This included name-brands like WM and Irokebijin, with Jiusheng (& MLW) halting all production until further notice (on Dec 11, 2025). This controversial topic re-emerged many times over the years – most recently with the SHEIN protests in Paris, France – but this time it’s different. Now, the Chinese government and police have gotten involved, cracking down on doll factories overnight. Here’s what I found out:

The Lead-up

On December 3, 2025, a Chinese state-affiliated outlet, The Paper, published a viral exposé revealing childlike dolls made in various factories in the Guangdong province (where most dolls are made). This included unsettling photos from months of undercover journalism at these various factories. On Weibo (Chinese social media), the story went viral with 300 million views in 48 hours, as riled-up netizens called for action. Douyin (Chinese Tiktok) was then flooded with videos inside doll factories, gathering millions of views, leading to widespread attention in China. Some people believe that the recent (and also viral) SHEIN situation in France also fueled the flames. With thousands of netizens calling for bans, including celebrities, the Chinese government and police have since gotten involved.

Currently, sex doll brands are in full-panic, scrambling to protect their business and remove traces of potential controversy. Although there aren’t any actual laws or regulations yet, the widespread uproar makes it seem likely. Therefore, many brands have voluntarily discontinued their smaller dolls this week, particularly those under 140cm tall (regardless of breast size or body shape). Again, this is all preventative measures to protect their business from potential rules and regulations; there are no official laws surrounding this in China yet (more on that later).

Ongoing Updates from Doll Brands

Jiusheng & MLW have temporarily suspended the production and shipping of ALL sex dolls. Originally, it began with MLW discontinuing dolls under 148cm two days ago (Dec 10), but now, their entire factory will halt production for a short period (to plan and adjust their lineup).

WM Doll will no longer produce any dolls under 140cm.

Mozu Doll will no longer produce any dolls under 140cm.

Game Lady will no longer sell their mini Tifa doll.

Doll Forever & Irokebijin discontinued all bodies 130cm and below.

Piper Doll discontinued their silicone 130cm Aika.

Aotume discontinued their 142cm male body and all bodies below that. Says the 135G is ok.

MW Girl discontinued their 75cm and 115cm dolls.

FUDOLL discontinued some dolls, but I’m unclear which ones at the moment.

The brand Momodoll officially shut down.

Some Discussion

This list is work-in-progress, and while some brands haven’t been listed, I assume they’re all aware of this and taking action. What’s interesting is smaller dolls have always been on full display at every Chinese adult expo for years without conflicts – attended by millions of men and women in total. I guess they were just hidden in plain sight. But after the exposé broke, people will never view them the same way again.

There are lots of rumors and speculation (especially since there are no actual laws yet), but apparently on Dec 3, at least two factories were raided by police and forcibly shut down (Huizhou Dashu Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd and Dongguan Jindouwei Model Props Co., Ltd). Jinduwei/Jindouwei was at the 2024 Guangzhou Expo, and I don’t know who “Huizhou Dashu” is (but they were more viral). Police confiscated their dolls, shut down operations, and are still investigating. This is enough to worry all brands whether there are any official laws in place or not.

Regulations to Come

On December 9, 2025, the “Guangdong Provincial Sexology Association,” a semi-official body that oversees “Sexual Health” issues in China (along with 100+ business representatives and experts from doll factories and e-commerce websites like JD and Tmall) approved a 20+ page document condemning childlike dolls. In short, dolls that resemble minors (under 18 years old) are now banned, and products must have clear warnings (“Not for minors; adult use only”). Violations will result in heavy fines or shutdowns. Since then, 1000+ ecommerce sellers were audited, and at least 300 removed. While this isn’t technically an official law, they essentially tied it to existing “obscenity” laws, which can result in legal action. E-commerce websites, sellers, and manufacturers are all advised to follow the newly-approved guidelines.

Conclusion

Since this is a heavily debated topic in the doll community, some people will be happy, some will be sad, and some won’t care – so let’s to keep it civilized in the comments. One thing’s for sure though: it’ll shape the future of doll designs and the doll market. Most likely, no more dolls under 140cm tall. I’ll update this when I have more information. For now, most brands are taking precautionary actions and preparing for the future.

In a Nutshell you have a couple weeks left to even get in an order for any 136cm-140cm A cup or flat doll, at least for those that haven’t been already ordered to shutdown (CATdoll, MOMOdoll etc), but any 140cm-145cm + doll with large breasts and curves should be good to go for the future whether FUdoll, MLW, WM doll, AXB, Shedoll.

There may simply be too much profit for all parties to fully ban the Fully Physically Developed hentai figurine mini sexdoll class whether Anime face or Realistic representation .. 40cm, 60cm, 72-80cm, 93-100cm class stuff from CLIMAX, QITA, PIPERdoll etc.

To ban dolls just because they are small is the dumbest thing i have ever heard. I can understand dolls that look look like real children, the ultra realistic ones but not anime dolls, for sure mozu’s 60,85 and up dolls or Irokebijins mini dolls and up. The GLD Tifa should not be effected and why are we letting this happen… Why do Chinese ppl care? China has 1000s of Cat and Dog meat restaurants all over China, they are open to the public and on China’s Version of google maps, its not a secrete but dolls are the issue lol.

  4. ACLU-The-Evil-Patriarchy

OK Most Chinese sexdoll Manufacturers make dolls that are intended to represent Minors of a Prepubescent or Pubescent Age… You just almost never see them on Western sites but only on (dot) jp sites.

Age of Consent in Asia until just a few years ago was 12, 13, 14 &15 everywhere without exception…Chairmen Mao slept with 60,000 women, preferring three 14 year olds at the same time… 2025 China Age of Consent and Mistresses Testimony. The running joke is the Average 14 year old Chinese female resembles the average 12 year old Western Caucasian female, and the average Japanese 14 year old female resembles the average 10 year old Western Caucasian female

Just Google image search all of the Japanese College Age JAV Professional Pornstars between 132 cm and 149 cm height.

So it is both legitimate and exploitative Free Enterprise Capitalism, Hysteria witch-hunt, and Western Ugly American Feminist Caucasian racism, and a Civil Rights issue for Dwarves and the Handicapped ..

Just don’t touch the new Sinodoll Top Sino 123 cm scaled down Recreation $3000 dolls!

    1. Moral panic

Japan always had their AoC at 18. It is just that the constitution allowed it to be lowered to 13 which nobody did except for a remote island state. Also, I know from actual people with dwarfism who were affected by a ban on these dolls. They are obviously not able to properly and easily handle an adult-sized doll. It is too cumbersome. Also not a fan of a government body deciding when someone is “adult looking”.

The “Teen” category being the most popular on basically every major porn site is also very telling. I doubt that every customer of these dolls are pedophiles. There are many reasons to get such a doll; exploring a taboo, fetish of size difference, and some even buy them as a replacement for an actual child they are unable to deliver. Sex is also not limited to penetration, so if these dolls are truly dangerous then you must technically ban every resemblence of a child since people could kiss, lick, rub etc.

      1. bob

You do know why the teen category is more popular don’t you?…. Its because the women that are listed there look in their 20s, its a way to narrow out the milfs and big tit porn stars.

        1. Dwarf

Look up proportionate dwarfism. There are adults who genuinely look like 6-8 year olds. Banning fiction is just dumb regardless.

          1. bob

I agree. I would like to add, 18-30yos can look in their teens, not just asian women and 13-17yo’s can look over 18, well over 18. It indeed is dumb. If you turn a real person with dwarfism into a anime character, they will look like a loli if they are female. Its just how the animation style is.

      2. ACLU-The-Evil-Patriarchy

Word is the State Chinese Communist Party and Secret Police will not jeopardize the flow of Foreign Currency and profits into China (Walmart is micromanaged on their side as being equal to the GNP of a small Nation LOL)
The Security Apparatus will enforce a Canadian style 4 or 5 point criteria based on height, hip pelvic curves, childlike face, anime face, flat or AA cup chest.
Having more than 2 of the above apparent features will disallow production, sales and export/import.

Expect all sexdolls that most people would opinion as Middle School/Freshmen HS Age representation 140 cm Shedoll, MLW, Fudoll, AXB, (Zelex)J-Cute to be banned.

Assuming the Borderline Barely Legal in Canada Piperdoll Iris 100 cm / 105 cm and AA cup 149 cm (Zelex) J-Cute is allowed still .. As Canada bans as normative policy all A cup sexdolls below 148 cm, and only allows sexdolls under 145 cm if they have large breasts and hips.
WM Decade old TPE B and C cup 140 cm Barely Legal 16-18 Age representation teen/Adult dolls will be untouched as always. .. As well as B, C and D cup 148 cm + dolls of all manufacturers

Since the 1970s even toy dolls started to move toward anatomically correct genders, therefore as Nude Content (Nudism/Sculpture-Art) is protected by Supreme Court Decisions, so “Reborn” collectable silicone and TPE dolls will remain as legal as ever.

Japan is arguable the largest market for the to be banned sexdolls, as most Japanese women before WW2 married in Promiscuous sexual Night Prowling in the Countryside, all orphans aged 12 and up were rounded up by police Hospitality Squads to service American Military in 1945 to prevent rape of wives, Middle School and High School compensated dating and telephone line hotel teen hotline sex club Tabloid Newspaper scandals of the 1980s and 1990s…

In turn leading to Prefectures and Metros raising the Age for casual sex to Age 16 or 18 unless in a dating relationship approved by the parental guardians… pornstar Bunko Kanazawa at Age 15 lived with a 30 year old Businessman…

Japan raising the Age from 13 to 16 with a 5 year Age Gap two years ago in 2023 after the famous Mr. Honda Democrat Congressman Joke.

    To the commenter, StopTheCensorship:
Hi. I appreciate the reply. However, to avoid a potential and heated political argument here (and because this post is specifically about China and not the US), I unfortunately can’t approve your comment.. However, I agree with some of what you said, such as the attention on dolls over actual known perpetrators.

  6. Real

There is currently only one country (Germany) where such a ban is being challenged at the highest level. Apparently every empirical study comes to the conclusion that there is no harm in these dolls and that banning them has caused people to fall back into harmful activities (consumption of CSAM) since they “end up in prison anyways no matter what I do” .

If anyone is interested in following the constitutional complaints then look here on the english version of the german supreme court under Second Senate, Number 24: https://www.bundesverfassungsgericht.de/EN/LatestNews/PreviewOfDecisions/preview_of_decisions_node.html

“Constitutional complaints challenging the criminalisation of selling, buying or possessing childlike sex dolls in § 184l of the Criminal Code, which entered into force on 1 July 2021 as part of the Act to Combat Sexual Violence Against Children. The complainants assert a violation of their general right of personality in the form of the right to sexual self-determination.”

A decision is “soon” expected according to the court.

  7. Hanshoku

It’s merely one of those witch hunts which never bring any good, when someone points fingers at someone and tells people to get very angry at them, to distract them from real issues. It’s about deviding, conquering and controlling.
And since it’s mostly about “low quality men” (“high quality men” just go out and get all the women they want), “freaks” and “to protect children” (of course it has almost nothing to do with protecting children), then no one would say a word against.
Considering the amount of someone’s money, work and time needed for “investigations” like that, there were probably some people in/with power behind this who were interested in this ban. It’s also one step closer into the dystopian future we are moving towards.

  8. Rebel Drifter on YT

Youtube already fought me about this… I wasn’t even allowed to talk about this so it seems. Here in Europe there are big rules about child-like dolls and have been for quite some time now. But it’s being overlooked most of the time. It’s pretty crazy. To be fair tho, I am against pdf’s in real life and also regarding child dolls. I think the industry will be better without these tiny ladies lol.

  9. K

I’d guess some of the taking down action is just the manufactories trying to hide themselves from the media, or at least they should wait until the topic to settle down (maybe after Chinese new year). Those dolls constitute a large industry and I can’t imagine how some brands who only produce small dolls could survive if they decide to change, or say, moving to sourth-east asia and continue the bussiness would be better than switching.

Campaign-style rectification is common here in China, this action might be connected to SHEIN protests in Paris and Macron‘s recent visit in China, as a sign to show friendship to France, or maybe not. We can only wait and see.

  10. MadMaximus

Keep us updated please, very interesting and important stuff.

Of course this happens during my first doll production/order lol. I should be fine (170cm doll senior) but chinese government is no joke.

    1. Steven

You’re probably fine. Doll Senior has some dolls that may face scrutiny, but they’re still promoting on Twitter like nothing’s happening. I’ll try to keep this updated, but I don’t know everything.. Some brands only talk to vendors. The Paper (Chinese media outlet that started this) seems to be hammering this hard.

  11. kar

I wonder if the new rules will affect torsos? )

    1. Steven

Two days ago, MLW said their T1 and T4 torsos are ok, but that was before they stopped all production.

From the summary of the document (not 100% if this is correct), dolls can’t have 2 or more of the following: under 140cm tall, have a youthful face, flat chest + narrow hips, (some kind of BMI measurement will be involved), use child-referencing marketing terms, or any childlike voices/AI.

      1. bob

Youthful means a person under 30 years old, in some regions around the world, its 25ish and below. Flat chest has no legal or medical/biology links to age nor does narrow hips. I know you are just noting what they are doing, i just wanted to define it because seems like ppl do not understand. People can and will look at the 150cm TopCY as a underaged teen and this is why these bans are stupid. I’m a deep advocate on this matter and i can speak about this for days because its stupid when dolls are targeted just because they are small. Next, laws will be passed that if a 18+ yo woman is too short, has small boobs or narrow hips or has a baby face, it will be illegal to date her even if you’re the same age. These anti small doll bans and outcries is saying this without saying it.

    2. Rebel Drifter on YT

As long as they dont look childish…

      1. Lmao

You have some dolls with childish faces, so stop talking. What is child-like and what is not is subjective, so there is no reason in trying to convince me otherwise. I despise moralists in a hobby like this where people piggy-back on this issue advocating for a ban of adult dolls as well, because “they normalize r*pe”.

        1. Steven

All opinions are welcomed, but please don’t personally attack anyone in the comments. Although I don’t think he has any childish dolls, the subjectiveness of it is definitely why this topic is so controversial and heavily debated.

        2. Rebel Drifter on YT

You’re too deep in the sauce man. You’re into kids then? R*pe you say… dolls arent alive. But talking about appearance is something different. I dont want anything to do with kids dude. You can have em. But rules are rules and i dont make these. But then again you name yourself lmao so we cant take you seriously.

          1. bob

You do read that he said nothing about being into kids… He is pointing out the issue we all are seeing. It started out with realistic childlike dolls, now its any small doll regardless how it looks and he is saying YOUR dolls you own now will be next because the same ppl going after dolls now also say all sex dolls normalizes R*pe and you would rather call him a ped in a form of a question. Like i said in your other comment, all because a doll is small, doesn’t mean it is a child or relates to a child and all because others defends that doesn’t mean they are into children. Yes Appearance is subjective and all because you think a 90cm Tifa is childlike doesn’t make that a fact, or a 85cm Mozu for the matter. The dolls that should only be targeted are the ones that look like real children 1:1 and we all do not like milf dolls like you do. I’m told my 150cm TopCY looked like a 13yo and with your logic, they are right since subjectiveness is all you need to pass laws and bans on things you personally dislike.

          2. bob

Imagine others into 160cm+ milf dolls telling other men they have to like the same dolls that they do… Some of us do not have $2k + for larger dolls, nor can some of us lift dolls over 50lb do to medical reasons or has the space for them. You not liking something should not dictate what others can or cant have. Its all really dumb, small dolls is the issue according to your side but its ok for parents to smoke near kids, alcohol in the same homes as children, owning guns in homes with children, children shooting guns, minors driving cars killing ppl, text and driving still not really a crime, all these things leads children to their deaths daily in the US and the world but a mini doll is the issue lol. If ppl can buy and own a sex doll that really looks young, if he is hurting real children, than so are you and i owning adult looking dolls hurting women. Its like holding a machete yelling at the guy with a sword calling him out as a bad guy for having a weapon in public… If the sword can hurt ppl even tho the man with it has no will to hurt ppl with it, then the machete guy is as innocent.

  12. Steven

I also heard that WM was visited by the police yesterday but I don’t know what happened afterwards.
